Sylveon 30th Anniversary Guide: Sylveon ex vs Greninja ex Boxes, Tins and Battle Decks

Sylveon ex or Greninja ex? We compare the 30th Anniversary ex Boxes, the upcoming ex tins and the Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks.

Sylveon 30th Anniversary Celebration Sylveon ex Box with oversize promo card and booster packs

The Sylveon 30th Anniversary products are some of the most eye-catching mid-sized boxes in the 30th Anniversary Celebration release. Sylveon and Greninja each front their own ex Box, matching tins are on the way, and two Eeveelution Battle Decks starring Espeon and Umbreon give players a ready-made way into the set. That is a lot to keep track of, so we have put everything in one place.

In this guide we compare the Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Boxes, explain what is known so far about the upcoming tins, look at the Espeon and Umbreon Battle Decks, and point you to the other collection boxes worth a look. For an overview of the entire release, start with our Pokémon 30th Anniversary pillar guide.

Why Sylveon and Greninja Star in the Anniversary Line-Up

Both Pokémon come from the sixth generation, which began with Pokémon X and Y in 2013. Sylveon arrived as the first Fairy-type Eeveelution, while Greninja is the final evolution of Froakie, the Water-type first partner from those games. More than a decade later, both are firm fan favourites, so it makes sense for a Sylveon 30th Anniversary box and a Greninja box to sit side by side on the shelf.

The fan votes back that up. In the 2020 Pokémon of the Year poll run for Pokémon Day, Greninja finished first overall, with Umbreon fifth and Sylveon sixth. That kind of popularity explains why a Greninja ex 30th Anniversary box sits alongside the Sylveon version, and why Espeon and Umbreon headline the Battle Decks.

Their cards in the main set

Both Pokémon have ex cards in the English main set. Greninja ex is card 021/128 and Sylveon ex is card 071/128, sitting just after Espeon ex at 070/128. Sylveon also gets attention in Pokémon TCG Live, where The Pokémon Company’s launch announcement confirmed that a Sylveon deck can be unlocked through play during the anniversary Battle Pass.

Espeon and Umbreon: the day and night pair

Espeon and Umbreon go back even further, to Pokémon Gold and Silver, where Eevee evolved into Espeon during the day and Umbreon at night. That fits the anniversary set perfectly, because The Pokémon Company describes its artwork as showing Pokémon in daytime and nighttime settings. It is also why the Ultra-Premium Collections and the mini tins come in day and night versions, and why Espeon and Umbreon get a Battle Deck each.

Sylveon 30th Anniversary Products at a Glance

Here is how the Sylveon 30th Anniversary products compare with their Greninja and Eeveelution siblings. Release timing is based on the official North American line-up. Australian timing can vary slightly, so the product page is always the best place to check the current status of each item.

Every booster pack in these products is a 30th Anniversary Celebration pack, so the pull chances are the same whichever box you pick. The choice really comes down to which Pokémon you love, how many packs you want and whether you would rather open packs or start playing straight away.

What is in each booster pack?

The anniversary packs are different from a normal expansion. According to The Pokémon Company, every card in the set is foil, each pack includes one of 30 Pikachu cards, and a new Futuristic rare rarity is illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. Thirty classic cards also return. For the confirmed cards and rarities, see our 30th Anniversary Pokémon card list guide.

The Sylveon ex Box: What’s Inside

Sylveon 30th Anniversary Celebration Sylveon ex Box with oversize card and four booster packs
The Sylveon box is in stock now.

The 30th Anniversary Celebration Sylveon ex Box is the main Sylveon 30th Anniversary product, and it was part of the first wave on 16 September 2026. Official product information for the Pokémon ex Box lists the following, with this version built entirely around Sylveon:

  • One foil Sylveon ex promo card
  • One oversize card of the same Pokémon
  • Four 30th Anniversary Celebration booster packs

The promo is the piece most collectors are after, since promo cards are not found in booster packs. The oversize card is a display item that looks great on a shelf or in a frame, but it is not legal for play and will not fit standard sleeves. Four packs make this a solid mid-sized opening without the commitment of a large premium box.

Who the Sylveon box suits

This box suits Fairy-type fans, Eeveelution collectors and anyone building a Sylveon binder across the eras. It also makes a lovely gift, as Sylveon’s pink-and-white look is a crowd-pleaser with younger fans. If you are collecting every Eeveelution in the release, the Sylveon 30th Anniversary box pairs neatly with the Espeon and Umbreon Battle Decks covered further down this guide.

The Greninja ex Box: What’s Inside

Greninja ex 30th Anniversary Celebration box with oversize Greninja card and booster packs
The Greninja box mirrors the Sylveon version.

The 30th Anniversary Celebration Greninja ex Box uses exactly the same format as its Sylveon twin, and it also arrived in the first wave in September. Every themed item swaps Sylveon for Greninja, while the pack count stays the same, so inside the box you get:

  • One foil Greninja ex promo card
  • One oversize card of the same Pokémon
  • Four 30th Anniversary Celebration booster packs

Because the two boxes share a format, the decision is purely about which Pokémon you prefer. Greninja’s sleek ninja design and its anime fame give it broad appeal, especially with collectors who grew up in the X and Y era. The Greninja ex 30th Anniversary promo is also a good fit for anyone building a Water-type page or a starter-themed binder.

Who the Greninja box suits

Pick this one if you are a Greninja fan, love Water types, or want a box with a cooler, darker colour palette than the Sylveon version. It is also a nice companion to the Umbreon Battle Deck if you are leaning into the night side of the anniversary artwork. Many collectors simply buy both ex Boxes so the two oversize cards can be displayed as a matching pair.

Sylveon ex vs Greninja ex: Which Box Should You Choose?

The contents are identical apart from the featured Pokémon, so there is no wrong pick here. The table below sums up the small differences that might sway you one way or the other, followed by a few quick ways to make the final call if you can only grab one box today.

  • Favourite Pokémon: Go with your heart. The promo and oversize card are the parts you keep forever.
  • Theme: Sylveon suits an Eeveelution or Fairy-type binder, while Greninja suits a Water-type or starter page.
  • Display: Grab both if you want a matching pair of oversize cards for a shelf.
  • Packs: Both boxes have four packs, so there is no advantage either way.
  • Gifting: Sylveon tends to win with younger fans, while Greninja is a safe bet for teens and adults who grew up with X and Y.

The 30th Anniversary Tins: Sylveon ex and Greninja ex

Sylveon ex 30th Anniversary Celebration tin with foil promo card and booster packs
The Sylveon tin is available to pre-order.

The next Sylveon 30th Anniversary product is a tin. The 30th Anniversary Celebration Sylveon ex Tin and the 30th Anniversary Celebration Greninja ex Tin are both available to pre-order at Ozzie Collectables. According to ICv2’s report on the announcement, they are scheduled for 4 December 2026 in North America.

What is in the ex tins?

Pre-release information reported by ICv2 lists one foil card plus four 30th Anniversary Celebration booster packs per tin, with each tin showcasing one of the two Pokémon. Pack counts can differ between regional versions and early listings, so check the product page for the confirmed contents of our stock closer to release. The foil promo and the tin artwork are the collectible pieces.

Tins are popular because they are sturdy, stackable and handy for storing cards once the packs are open. These 30th Anniversary tins continue the same artwork theme as the ex Boxes, so if you already own one of the boxes, the matching tin is an easy way to round out your display without doubling up on the same item.

Do not confuse them with the mini tins

The anniversary line-up also includes ten mini tins, released earlier, each with two booster packs, a sticker sheet and an art card. The ten designs combine into day and night artworks, and Greninja appears on one of the night designs. The ex tins are a separate, larger product built around the two featured promos, so check the name carefully when you shop.

Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks

30th Anniversary Celebration Espeon ex Battle Deck with Victini promo, deck box and playmat
The Espeon ex Battle Deck is ready to play out of the box.

If you would rather play than rip packs, the Battle Decks are the answer. The 30th Anniversary Celebration Battle Deck Espeon ex and the 30th Anniversary Celebration Battle Deck Umbreon ex were dated 30 October 2026 in the official line-up, and each product page shows its current status. Each one includes:

  • An all-foil 60-card deck built around Espeon ex or Umbreon ex
  • An illustration rare-style promo: Victini with Espeon, or Zeraora with Umbreon
  • A deck box
  • A playmat
  • A coin

Who the Battle Decks suit

These decks are ideal for newer players, kids learning the game, and families who want two ready-to-play decks for head-to-head matches at the kitchen table. Grab one of each and you have an instant Espeon versus Umbreon rivalry. Because every card is foil, they also look great for Eeveelution collectors who want Espeon and Umbreon next to their Sylveon 30th Anniversary box.

Getting the most out of a Battle Deck

A Battle Deck is a complete 60-card deck, so you can shuffle up and play as soon as you open it. The playmat helps beginners learn where each card goes, and the coin handles coin flips. Once you know the basics, try swapping in a few cards from your booster packs to see how the deck changes. If you plan to play at organised events, check the current format rules on the official Pokémon website first.

Binder, Knock Out and Poster Collections

The ex Boxes are not the only mid-sized products in the release. Three more collection boxes are worth a look if you want something a little different, whether that is card storage, a smaller opening for a younger fan or a wall-ready display piece for the games room:

  • Binder Collection: The Pokémon 30th binder box includes a nine-pocket binder with an anniversary design and five booster packs. It is a great home for your Sylveon and Greninja pulls.
  • Knock Out Collection: The Pokémon 30th Knockout Collection is the smallest box, with two booster packs, a foil Eevee promo and a commemorative coin.
  • Poster Collection: The Poster Collection 30th Anniversary box includes three booster packs, foil promos of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, and a full-size, two-sided poster.

The Knock Out Collection’s Eevee promo is a lovely tie-in for anyone collecting the Eeveelution side of the release. Put it next to the Sylveon promo and the Espeon and Umbreon Battle Decks, and you have the start of a neat Eevee family display that tells a story across the whole anniversary range.

Building a Sylveon 30th Anniversary Collection

If you want to go all in, here is a simple plan for a Sylveon 30th Anniversary collection that covers every Sylveon and Eevee family piece in the release without doubling up on anything. Work through it in order, or pick the steps that suit your budget and shelf space:

  1. Start with the Sylveon ex Box for the promo and oversize card.
  2. Add the Sylveon tin when it arrives for the matching artwork and its foil card.
  3. Pick up the Knock Out Collection for the Eevee promo.
  4. Add the Espeon and Umbreon Battle Decks for two more Eeveelutions.
  5. Store your pulls, including the regular Sylveon ex from the main set, in the Binder Collection’s nine-pocket binder.

Greninja fans can follow the same plan with the Greninja box and tin, then add a Water-type or starter page to their binder alongside the regular Greninja ex from the main set. Speaking of starters, our First Partner Illustration Collection guide covers the anniversary boxes built around first partner Pokémon.

Pre-ordering and timing

With the tins still on pre-order, it pays to plan ahead. Our Pokémon 30th Anniversary pre order guide explains how pre-orders work across the whole release. Every product at Ozzie Collectables is 100% authentic and officially licensed, prices are in Australian dollars, and we ship Australia-wide.

Open it or keep it sealed?

This is a personal choice, and both are perfectly valid. Opening a box gives you the fun of the packs and the chance at the Futuristic rares and Special Illustration Rares, while keeping one sealed preserves the artwork and the box as a display piece. Some collectors buy two of their favourite box so they can do both. Whatever you choose, buy for enjoyment first rather than as an investment.

Caring for your cards in Australia

Keep sealed boxes and tins out of direct sun, which fades artwork quickly, and store them somewhere cool and dry, especially in humid parts of the country. Sleeve promos as soon as you open them, and store oversize cards flat in a large sleeve or folder so they do not bend. If you plan to keep a box sealed, store it upright and away from dust.

Sylveon 30th Anniversary FAQ

What comes in the Sylveon ex Box?

The box includes one foil Sylveon ex promo card, one oversize card of the same Pokémon and four 30th Anniversary Celebration booster packs. It was part of the first wave of the release on 16 September 2026, and the Sylveon 30th Anniversary box is available now at Ozzie Collectables.

Is the Greninja box different from the Sylveon box?

Only in the featured Pokémon. The Greninja version has the same format: one foil Greninja ex promo, one oversize card and four booster packs. The packs are identical, so pick the Pokémon you prefer, or grab both to display the oversize cards together.

When do the Sylveon and Greninja tins come out?

ICv2 reported a 4 December 2026 release in North America for the two ex tins. Both are available to pre-order at Ozzie Collectables, and the product pages will show the latest status and confirmed contents ahead of release, so check back as the date gets closer.

Are the Battle Decks good for beginners?

Yes. The Espeon and Umbreon Battle Decks are ready to play straight out of the box, with an all-foil 60-card deck, a deck box, a playmat and a coin. Buying both gives two players a fun, evenly themed match-up, which makes them a great way to learn together.

Can I pull Sylveon ex from any 30th Anniversary pack?

Yes. Sylveon ex is card 071/128 in the English main set, so it can turn up in any 30th Anniversary Celebration booster pack, not just the Sylveon box. The guaranteed Sylveon items are the foil promo and oversize card inside the ex Box, plus the foil card in the upcoming tin.

How many booster packs are in each box?

The Binder Collection has five packs, the two ex Boxes have four each, the Poster Collection has three and the Knock Out Collection has two. Early reports list four packs per ex tin, so check the tin product pages for confirmed contents. The Battle Decks have no booster packs, because they are complete ready-to-play decks.

Whether you are Team Sylveon, Team Greninja or collecting the whole Eevee family, there is a box for you in this release.
