About Simplified Chinese Pokémon cards

The Simplified Chinese Pokémon TCG launched in mainland China in October 2022, and releases such as the Chinese Vivid Portrayals Obsidian Box are built specifically for that market. Many products remix popular cards from existing Japanese and English sets into new line-ups, so Simplified Chinese releases often have no direct English equivalent.

Simplified Chinese boxes come in distinctive formats – such as slim packs and larger jumbo packs – with unique packaging and promo cards. That makes the Chinese Vivid Portrayals Obsidian Box a fun, different opening experience and a great talking piece in any collection.

The cards play the same way as English cards. If you plan to use the cards in official Play! Pokémon events in Australia, check the current tournament rules first, as card language eligibility is set by the organisers.

Opening, collecting and storing tips

If you are opening the Chinese Vivid Portrayals Obsidian Box, do it on a clean, dry surface and sleeve any big hits straight away. A penny sleeve plus a top loader keeps chase cards in mint condition until you decide whether to bind, grade or trade them.

If you are keeping it sealed, store it upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity, which can warp packaging and fade print. An acrylic case or box protector adds extra protection against dents and crushed corners.

Planning a pack-opening night? Share the packs around, keep a binder and sleeves on hand, and record the pulls – it is half the fun of buying the booster box.

Ordering, shipping and payment

Ordering the Chinese Vivid Portrayals Obsidian Box is simple: choose your quantity, click Add to cart and check out securely. Shipping options and the exact cost for your address are calculated at checkout before you pay, and orders ship Australia-wide.

Questions about stock, bulk quantities or combined shipping? Chat with us on WhatsApp or live chat and we will be happy to help.
